Top Trends in the Indian Fashion Industry

Fashion is a dynamic industry. What’s in today may be obsolete tomorrow. On one hand, new designs and designers are taking over the runaway, on the other; professionals are trying to bring back the magic of conventional and classic. With such changes in the style and trends every day, following are the ones that are here to stay for now:

1. Shirt-dresses

The shirt dress was one style that featured as the most happening dress in the spring/summer collection of LFW 2017just as the Long shirts was a trend picked up from the last edition of the fashion week. This year, stylists have reinvented the shirt-dress and given it a new look with drop waists, button-downs, double high slits, asymmetric hemlines, and Chinese.

2. Culottes

The complex and suave Culottes have progressed from last-seasons raw denim, double-tone or embellished alternatives to a form resembling the trousers. An interesting twist has been given to this dress with the lower limb portion stitched and the rest left loose. A tad differently styled culottes that are high on the fashion quotient are also the hot pick of this season.

3. Sporty Look

Athletic looks with the go-faster stripes, gym shorts, plimsolls, tennis skirts, or leather leggings are the raging trends in this autumn/winter edition. The athletic design can accentuate the silhouette and jazz up the look of the wearer in more ways than one. While the racer backs are definitely going to be the hot picks this season, women can try out the polo necks for that hot androgynous look.

4. Saree: with a twist

Saree isn’t the same old, traditional piece of clothing anymore. Gone are the days of conventional drapes. Give your saree a modern outlook, and wrap it like a gown. Flaunt your curves in the styles that are dazzling the runaway, or go old-school if you would like. Add a blazer on top or replace your blouse with a crop top. Go one step ahead and add a belt. 2020 is all about experimenting, even if it’s with the Indian national attire.

This year is going to be full of fun and excitement in the industry. Designers are getting inspirational and going back to the 60s and 70s for motivating. Denims and monochromes are making a comeback too. This year, its not about finding a new style, it’s about re-defining and rediscovering old trends and adding a hint of innovation in them.
